Cultural City: Museums and Monuments

Half a day Excursion

The first place we are going to visit is the Museo de Bellas Artes San Pío V –San Pio V Fine Arts Museums- considered one of the best art museums in Spain. It is essential to take note or the splendid gothic altarpieces.

Later we will visit the Prehistory Museum, sited in the culture centre “Beneficiencia”. The old building that the city created for the charitable use, today holds several contemporary art halls, an Ethnological Museum and one of the best prehistory museums in Spain, both for its resources and didactic material.

In few meters we can pass from this museum located in a historic building to the Valencian Institute of Modern Art, that presents the latest international artistic creations. A newly constructed contemporary building that holds the best collections of Julio González , one of the great sculptors of the 20th century.

Welcome Reception at the Jardin Botánico de Valencia –Botanical Garden-.
A musical evening will improve by the performance of the Wind Section of the Valencia University Philharmonic Orchestra.

Old City Center Visit

Complete Day Excursion

Visit to the old part of the city. It’s one of the oldest and best kept in Europe. There you will find stunning examples of Gothic, which deserves a separate section, Neoclassism (the former University), Baroque (Marquis de Dos Aguas Palace) or Modernism (Estación del Norte).

First, we will visit La Lonja (The Exchange), declared in 1.996 as Heritage for Mankind by the Unesco. Just in front of it, an interesting piece of modernism: the Mercado Central, full of vivacity and conclusion. The Estación del Norte is another good example of a modernist building, which boasts a beautiful façade decorated with allegorical tiles.

We will visit the Cathedral, a combination of late Roman Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque with the Museo Catedralicio that houses exquisite pieces of gold and silverwork, collection of religious paintings from the valencian school and other unique works, such as paintings by Goya for San Francisco de Borja chapel.

The Marquis de Dos Aguas Palace offers the must examples of Valencian Rococco, is where Museo Nacional de Cerámica is located.

We will also visit the Serrano and Quart Towers part of the ancient wall of the Town, the Plaza Redonda, one of the most curious and typical places. It has a central fountain surrounded by many stalls where the commercial activity makes this plaza one of the most bustling of the city.

Visit Valencia Fallas Museum
This museum preserves the “ninots” (cardboard caricatures of famous people) burnt every year. It’s a collection made up of “ninots” figures that have been saved from by the flames by popular vote since 1934.

The Albufera

Complete Day Excursion

The largest lake in Spain. The area was declared a Nature Park because of its importance as a habitat for wildlife. We take a ride in typical Albufera boats. Nature lovers should visit El Palmar a picturesque town featuring Valencian “barracas”. This area inspired many novels of Blasco Ibáñez.

At this excursion we recommend sport wear and comfortable shoes.

During the lunchtime we will also enjoy different valencian dishes and authentic paella in one of the typical restaurant.

Hemisferic and Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias visit

Half a Day Excursion

Visit the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.

The City of the Arts and Sciences is a major leisure complex created around the great questions that concern mankind: science, art, the future and nature.

The complex is not only of unquestionable architectural beauty, created by Santiago Calatrava, it also houses an attractive content that will delight its visitors. We will visit the different parts of the City: The Principe Felipe Sciences Museum, designed to hold permanent and travelling theme exhibitions related to the world of science and vanguard technology. The Hemisferic enables the spectator to experience the captivating sensations provided by the latest in image and sound technology, with a Planetarium, Imax cinema and laser show all in one single space.

Lunch at one of the most important restaurants of the new Seafront Promenade of the City: La Pepica. We will enjoy a gastronomic pleasure in the company of the cool sea breeze, feeling the attraction of the Valencia’s magnificent coastline.

La Vall D’Uixo

Complete Day Excursion

On this day we will visit one of the most spectaculars natural spaces of the Comunidad Valenciana: the San José Cavern with a subterranean river that we can navigate by boat. This Cavern is included at the World Catalogue of Big Cavities, and you can find on it archaeological rests, prehistoric paintings iberians and Romans.

We will navigate by the subterranean river in special boats. More than 2 kilometres of navigate waters, calm and blue, with an incredible overview of the Nature.

We can also see stalactites and stalagmites, columns and rock’s cascades.

Lunch time at El Puig de Santa María, civil and religious center of the valencian historic life.

On the afternoon, we could visit the Real Monasterio de Santa María, with the Museum of the Printing, the second in importance of Europe. This museum has a pedagogic interest because the importance of the art of printing at Valencia since the XV century. We will also visit the convent where lives the monks of the Real Order.
